Senior Android Developer

You will be working for the UK’s leading Gaming Company who are in the top 10 in the UK’s best offices to work in. This is a role for a keen, self-motivated individual to work with an autonomous, performance-focused and tight-knit agile team who are well known to deliver high-quality products in lightning fast timeframes. This position will ideally suit an experienced Android developer who is comfortable to work closely with designers and UX teams on best of breed customer experiences and is also interested in exploring the full potential of Kotlin as well as the latest Android technologies.

Responsibilities:
As the most senior Android developer in the team you will primarily be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with designers and UX teams on creating ‘best-of’ app experiences
  • Conceiving and contributing to ideas for visually appealing features, from prototype to the Play Store
  • Owning the full Android apps development lifecycle, as well as app architectural frameworks
  • Taking our Kotlin codebase and Kotlin practices to the next level
  • Coaching junior members of the team
  • Providing technical foresight to the business on how changes to the Android platform will affect our products and their players, and help the team pioneer new technology
  • Take advantage of the latest Android features such as Android Architectural Components, Jetpack, AndroidX, Slices, and more

Requirements:
At least 1 published app on Google Play Store available for immediate download and review by our team. (Please provide the names of all apps that you've worked on, with a brief description of your contribution, if not individually developed).

  • Proven Senior Android development experience
  • In depth understanding of the complexities in supporting a wide range of device types and OS versions
  • Experience with fast paced development methodologies (agile, lean, …)
  • Fluency with Git, using pull-request models, submodules and similar approaches
  • Experience with JSON, XML and interfacing Android applications to server-side APIs

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working on graphically rich, eye-catching applications and/or games
  • An eye for good UX and an ability to independently analyse our existing applications for potential new features and extensions
